From Strings to Scores: A Classical Guitarist’s Journey into Composition

This page is a little different from the others. Rather than showcasing my latest scores or media projects, it offers a more personal glimpse into the roots of my musical life.
It’s a place to share part of the story behind the music—the path that began long before I started composing for screen and media.

Before establishing myself as a composer for film, television, games, and production music, my musical roots were deeply grounded in the classical guitar. Years of study, performance, and interpretation of the guitar repertoire gave me a profound understanding of harmony, texture, and emotional nuance—qualities that now shape my approach to storytelling through music. In this section, I invite you to explore a selection of recordings that reflect the foundation of my musical voice. These pieces, though intimate in scale, continue to influence the broader sonic landscapes I now create for screen and media.

My background in classical guitar was formally shaped through a BA in Music with an emphasis on classical guitar performance from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Brazil. During this period, I studied a broad and diverse repertoire, engaging with composers such as Leo Brouwer, Paulo Bellinati, John Dowland, Heitor Villa-Lobos, John Williams, Luiz Bonfá, Garoto, and many others. I performed both solo and in flute-and-guitar duets, and later shared this expertise widely through teaching—serving as a senior lecturer at the University of Bristol, as well as instructing privately and at The Spanish Guitar Centre in Bristol.

Although my current creative focus lies in media composition, the guitar remains deeply embedded in my work, especially within my production music albums released through BMG Production Music, Warner Chappell Production Music, Gargantuan Music, Atom Music, and other labels.
